Is PlayParty free to play?
Yes. PlayParty is completely free to play. You can create and join games without paying anything.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required to jump into a game — you can create or join a game as a guest with just a display name. Creating a free account is optional and simply lets you keep your name across sessions.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. PlayParty runs entirely in your web browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. There is no app to download and nothing to install.
How do game codes work?
When you create a game, PlayParty gives you a short code. Share that code with your friends, and they enter it on the Join page to land in your lobby. Once everyone has joined, the host starts the game.
How many players do I need?
It depends on the game. Imposter is best with 3–8 players, Word Match works with 2–16 players, and Word Chain Battle is a 1v1 game for exactly 2 players.
Can I play on my phone?
Absolutely. PlayParty is designed to work great on mobile browsers, so everyone can play from their own phone — whether you're in the same room or on a video call.
Can I play with friends who aren't in the same place?
Yes. Because everyone joins with a game code from their own device, PlayParty works just as well over a video call as it does in person.
Why do I see ads?
Ads help keep PlayParty free for everyone. We aim to keep them unobtrusive. You can read more about how advertising works in our Privacy Policy.
How is my data used?
We only collect what's needed to run the games — things like your display name, in-game actions, and (if you make an account) your email. We explain exactly what we collect and how advertising cookies work in our Privacy Policy.
Are more games coming?
