Imposter
Imposter is a fast, social deduction party game about bluffing and reading people. Everyone is secretly assigned a role: most players share a common secret word, while one or more players are the imposters who only see a vague hint. Round after round, players take turns saying a single word related to the secret — proving they belong without giving the word away to the imposters listening in.
The catch: the imposters are dropping clues too, trying to sound just convincing enough to survive. After each round of clues, everyone debates who seems off and votes someone out. Get it right and you close in on victory; get it wrong and the imposters slip one step closer to stealing the game. It's equal parts clever wordplay, table talk, and nerve.
Imposter plays great in the same room or over a video call — pass a phone around the party or have everyone join from their own device. A game runs about 5–15 minutes, so it's easy to play "just one more."

How to Play
One or more players are secretly the imposter(s). Imposters, your goal is to blend in and not be voted out! Everyone else: work together to provide hints related to the secret word, and vote out the players at the end of every round who you think are the imposters!
Join & Start
Players join the lobby. The host starts the game when everyone is ready.
Role Reveal
Roles are assigned. Good players see the secret word. Imposters see a hint word.
Word Input
Players take turns providing words related to the secret word. Imposters try to blend in!
Discussion
Players discuss and try to identify who the imposters are based on the words provided.
Voting
Players vote for who they think is an imposter. The player with the most votes is eliminated.
Guessing
If an imposter is voted out, they guess the secret word. Correct guess = imposters win! If wrong, the game continues to the next round (back to word input).
If wrong guess → loops back to step 3
Win Conditions
Good players win by eliminating all imposters. Imposters win by guessing the word correctly or surviving until only 2 players remain.
Tips & Strategy
- As a normal player, give a clue that's specific enough to prove you know the word — but not so obvious that it hands it to the imposter.
- As the imposter, listen carefully to the first few clues and echo the theme without committing to details.
- Watch for players who stay vague every round — vagueness is the imposter's best friend.
- Save your strongest clue for later rounds once you've read the room.
- When you're voted out as the imposter, your guess is a last chance to steal the win — use everything you heard.
